Hamish Davidson

Hamish Davidson Hamish Davidson was born on April 7, 1983 in Moe, Victoria, Australia. Although he is new to the idiom of ragtime piano, only playing piano since February 2000, he is proficient on the banjo and the fiddle. In the year 2000, he won the Australian Bluegrass Fiddle Championship.

Hamish has been overseas twice. On the first trip in 1993, Hamish travelled up and down the West Coast of America. After visiting Disneyland, he still thinks the highlight of the trip was seeing Ragtime Rod Miller play his ragtime on Coronation Corner. On the second trip, in 1997, Hamish spent his time chasing up bluegrass music, as he had been playing the banjo since January 1997.

Hamish may be seen performing with "The BlueGrassHoppers", "The Davidson Family Bluegrass Band", "Andrew Clermont's Bluegrass Meltdown", and "The Fiddlers' Festival" at many major Australian music festivals. He has made appearances at the National Folk Festival in Canberra, the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and the Harrietville Bluegrass and Old Timey Festival.
